We're not homeless anymore!
I am BEYOND excited right now. We got a call from the housing office just a couple hours ago letting us know they have 2 units available for us to pick up the keys and go look at tomorrow! Not only are we just daysss away from finally getting out of the TLF, they are both 2 bedroom multiplexes which mean they are pet friendly! and both in Foster. We have been so stressed about the possibility of...

Never in my life
Have I ever had to share a bedroom, bathroom or car. Never growing up, never with roommates, none of that stuff.
And then I got married. WHAT was I thinking? hahahahaa

I sure have learned a lot from watching AFN commercials. Turning the TV on is like a >military< after school special. haaa

First weekend out on the town
We we’re adventurous this weekend. All the way to…. American Village. It may not be much, but it was something, ANYTHING outside of base. We drove around Saturday, got lost a few times, but managed to make it back and since we never quite found what we were looking for (We still aren’t sure what our agenda was) we ended up at American Village. Walked around a little, then checked...
The Two Baby Tour
You hear it the moment you step on to this island, an accompanied tour in Okinawa is also known as the 2 baby tour. I laughed the first couple times I heard it, but today was just one of those actual LOL moments. We were at the tricare office transferring my stuff to Okinawa and I was asking about my current perscriptions and if there is any way to get them transferred from a civilian pharmacy at...

Hi ho hi ho it's off to work he goes
After 29 days on leave, Mr. Tirol goes back to work today. Half of me is sad to be alone, but the other half… maybe the 51% half is glad for him to go back to work, so I can have ME time again. With the exception of a few days here and there, we have been together day and night, 24/7. I’m surprised we haven’t killed each other yet hahhaa. Considering he was gone 20 some odd weeks...
housewifemama said: how could those other people not pass? they practically give you all the answers before the test LOL I was nervous too, but all my friends here said it was a piece of cake. Congrats! Now, you’re considered a professional Japan driver ;)
They’ve changed it since you took it. They show you a video, but it really only give you the common sense answers and maybe a little...

We be street legal
8.5 hours later we completed our new-comers brief and took our driving test. We read the guide and actively tried to memorize the 32163546584 different road signs and thank God we did cause we PASSED! Now it may not seem like much, but considering well over half the class did not pass, I think we deserve a pat on the back. Finished up the paperwork for our car and we should be able to pick it up...
housewifemama said: Yes, PCSing is always stressful. Once you get your house, and household goods, you’ll be set! What base will you guys be living on again?
I will never take living in a house for granted after this haha. He’s stationed at Foster, but we told them today we don’t mind living in any surrounding base just so we can have pet friendly housing. I really really really...
housewifemama said: you’re here already?! yay! sorry I been away from tumblr for a while due to school (boo!) and my band. can’t wait to see your posts of your okinawa adventures!
Yep! We got here Friday night AND the dogs got here Sunday night. It hasn’t been easy, but we all made it! I’ve barely been on myself with all the traveling and 674837 things to do that come with getting...
Early bird gets the worm
We’re actually loving the time zone WE are on. We’ve mostly adjusted to Okinawa time, but we wake up between 4-6am everyday. Sounds asinine sure, but considering Alan has to be at work at 7am anyways, it gives us a chance to wake up, have breakfast and we’re happily awake and not groggy. Now of course we’re also DONE by 8 or 9 pm. Which actually I don’t mind so...
Definitely gonna have to get use to Facebook, twitter and tumblr going practically silent after 4-5 pm.
Or i could just make friends on this side of the world and problem solved lol
Productive day... and all before noon!
Our dogs landed last night and got to see them today! Bonnie has a few sores that just need some antibiotics and some medicine and hopefully she’ll be as good as new soon. They have to be boarded until we can get housing, so i’m PRAYING we get some awesome news at our housing appointment tomorrow. I would love to stay on Foster, their renovated housing is nice! But as long as we can...

It’s only been 2 days and I’m already tired of living in temporary lodging. Maybe it’s because we’ve already been living without the normal comforts of home for well over a month. Our sponsors didn’t get housing for a month when they got here. I’m praying we have better luck.
On another note, the dogs fly in tonight!! They’ll be here in about 5 or 6...

I've got prince charming
My husband’s new nickname for me is honey badger. While it sounds like a sweet little animal, it’s quite the contrary. They are mean little fuckers. Their instincts are to attack and kill . Thanks dear… much appreciated.

Goooood morning Okinawa =)
I’ve never woken up at 5am so willingly. As if it’s normal. I’m half on Okinawa time half on Cali time I think. Maybe the fact we have the hardest bed in the world doesn’t help either.

sleepless in seattle
Sitting next to the dog that took up the flight space that kicked our dogs off. At first I was bitter… now I’m kinda glad we didn’t have to deal with 6 bags and 2 dogs. Bonnie’s a good girl but big! and I imagine Lola being a pain in this whole ordeal hahaha.

Pretty sure I’m gonna have to avoid tumblr for the next week. My dashboard is full of cute puppies, pugs and bulldogs and it makes me miss my babies terribly. Praying they have no problem with their flights to Denver today and then off to Oki on Saturday.

I'm offended!
So on Chelsea Lately the other night she was talking about FB removing photos of women breast feeding. Welll this lead us to reporting a certain ex wife’s photo as innapropriate that shows her breast feeding her bastard child. Our good deed for the day. Ha!
duhhh
** playing hanging with friends, and I lost**
Me: aww Nicole T. lost. I don't like when that happens

Movers are here... AGAIN.
Third and final time. After today our house will be completely empty minus the abundance of stuff I’m convinced will fit in our 2 suit cases, a pile of stuff that will have to be mailed to Oki and a mattress my parents are taking after we leave. This is gonna be an interesting last 5 days. Guess we’ll have to find a way to entertain ourselves ;)

The count down is on
This time next week we’ll be in Seattle. I’m trying so hard not to think about the good byes. It makes me cry every time I do (Which is pretty frequent). I’m trying to concentrate on the new adventure we’re about to begin, trying to keep a smile on my face. I’ve never had to say goodbye before…

I’m secretly excited to buy a slightly silly looking Japanese car that I would never be caught dead driving here but will be totally normal there :-)

There are NO WORDS
For the amount of stress we have been under the last 2 days. I NEVER imagined getting our dogs to Okinawa would be this mother F&@(#*$)$# difficult.
“I have a dream that one day on the rocky cliffs of Okinawa, the dogs of this US Marine and his wife will be able to sit together on the beach as a family.” -Nicole

Customer Service for the win
There’s a camaraderie among military members and spouses in 3rd party situations that I can definitely appreciate. We have spent half the day on the phone setting up our entire lives to be “disconnected” next week. All but one customer service rep was either a vet themselves or a spouse and I truly felt that their customer service level was higher than the average Joe you usually...

fa fa fareeezing
I’m shaking like a leaf and decided it was necessary to turn the heat on and saw it’s 71 degrees in here. That’s not cold! What’s wrong with me? Meh… think I’ll turn the fireplace on instead and attempt to fall asleep.
